September 2 - National Ride Day "Ride for Recovery" presented by Road2recovery

(This is a benefit fundraiser for a rider support semi to travel to and educate all our riders at all the Amateur Nationals.  It is similar to a walk-a-thon, where you will get sponsorships for your laps or a set amount for the day.  See Denise for details).

2nd Annual National Ride Day
September 2nd

 Goals for National Ride Day:
To provide a mobile medical unit at the top Amateur Nationals. Realizing that amateurs are the future of the sport, they deserve the same attention as professional athletes while in competition. The onsite medical unit was debuted at Loretta Lynn’s in 2007 and provides treatment from qualified trainers and doctors that have a background in motocross injuries. The unit also serves as a mobile education unit providing information on products that can help prevent injuries.

How It Works:
Each participant gets pledges for laps ridden at Pleasant Valley Raceway or simply a flat donation. Just go to www.r2rrideday.com and register by building your own web site and setting a goal for yourself. Friends and family will then be able to log on, search for their favorite rider and make a pledge in your name, either on a per lap basis or a flat amount for participating.

Minimum pledge per lap is $1.00 with a 10 lap minimum. You must have a minimum of $25.00 in pledges in order to participate. Riders can register and pledges can be made on-line.

Great Prizes for a Great Cause:

Grand Prize top rider nationwide with $5,000 or more in pledges will be eligible to win an MX bike.

The Road 2 Recovery, a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization, is dedicated to helping licensed AMA Professional MX/SX members with financial assistance if they sustain career-ending injuries as well as providing motivational, emotional, and spiritual support to these individuals and their families.

Important Info for Minors

Motocross is a relatively safe sport. Needless to say, our insurance carrier and common sense require a parent or legal guardian to sign up a minor rider to race. For legal purposes, we need a liability release and a minor release form filled out by your parents. For safety sake, you need your parents with you in case you are hurt and need medical treatment.

If your parent can't come with you, there is a way to ride. However, you have to be prepared before coming to the track! You must bring a notarized permission note from your parent. Below is a sample of what the note should say. This is a generic version, so if there is any doubt in you or your parents mind regarding exactly what the note should or shouldn't contain it would be wise to have your parents consult with a Notary of Public.

Example:

My son/daughter INSERT MINOR'S NAME HERE has my permission to ride at Pleasant Valley Cycle Park on INSERT DATE OF EVENT HERE.

In Addition, I give permission to INSERT GUARDIAN'S NAME HERE (AN ADULT) to sign all liability, release and registration forms at the track and to give consent to medical treatment to INSERT MINOR'S NAME HERE if needed.

INSERT PARENT OR GUARDIANS SIGNATURE HERE

INSERT NOTARY PUBLIC SIGNATURE AND SEAL HERE

In the example, the guardian is someone of legal age, who will be with you at the track all day. We need an original copy of a note for every race or practice day. You should bring an extra copy for each minor to keep in case you are hurt and need to seek medical attention. Almost every race or practice it seems like we turn away at least one disappointed rider because he / she came to the track unprepared.
